The Best 0% – 0.5% Craft Beer For Dry January.

It’s that time of year again where most of us make a promise to ourselves to cut out Alcohol for the whole month, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your beer all together.

Many breweries have accommodated over the years for those wanting the same great taste but with zero alcohol content, whether it be for those designated drivers or for those who have been told to cut down for health reasons.

What ever the reason here is our 5 top 0% – 0.5% alcohol beers for dry January:

Holy Faith 0.5%

Holy Faith 0.5% by Northern Monk

Holy Faith By Northern Monk comes in at 0.5%, This is meant to be the low alcohol version of there signature Faith so if you are familiar with that you will get the same fruity citrus flavours with less of the alcohol. This beer is hopped with Citra, El Dorado, and Simcoe to give it that refreshing fruity flavour.  This one might be hard to find after searching the web all outlets show out of stock but it made our list as they may produce more before the month is out and it is one of our favourite low percent beers.

If this beauty does get production before the months end you can expect to pick it up for around £2 a can.

Galactic Milk Stout 0.5%

Galactic Milk stout 0.5% by Big Drop

Now this one is purely seasonal. We had to include a stout on the list since its still that time of year where darker beers are more sought after than the hazy IPA’s. This milk stout is everything you want this time of year. It has a dark rich flavour of coffee with a slight creamy taste of milk chocolate. It really is a low alcohol treat. It has a low sugar level too just in case that is one of your new years resolutions.

The lowest price we found this at was a fantastic 95p at the time of writing from https://wisebartender.co.uk (Not affiliated)

You can also pick this up from Waitrose for £1.20 at the time of writing

Wheesht 0.0%

Wheesht 0.0% by f Harvistoun Brewery

I have been a fan of Harvistoun brewery for a quite a few years now and I have to say they are making some tasteful beers from very heart of Scotland. This beer may lack alcohol content but it makes all that up with flavour. This one is for the dark ale lovers among us. It has a great rich dark taste with mild coffee notes that give it a slight bitter taste rounded of with some sweet raisin notes. It gives the feel of dipping a malted milk into a black coffee.

The lowest price I found was on Ocado for £1.15 for a singular bottle or you could pick it up from the breweries website for 12.60 for 12 bottles (£1.05 per bottle)

Punk AF 0.5%

Punk AF 0.5% by Brewdog

This is Brewdog’s Punk IPA. NO i understand there is a lot of stigma behind Brewdog but there is no doubt they are one of the biggest craft breweries around, this means that as far as an alcohol free craft ale goes I had to include it on my list as it is probably the easiest to find in terms of your weekly shop.

This is how you would expect it to be if you have ever had Punk IPA before. It has the signature pine forest aroma with a slight zesty note. The taste is a refreshing pine and tropical fruit with a slight finish of grapefruit.

I couldn’t find this in a singular bottle value but for a pack of 4 x 330ml cans would cost you £4.50 from most local supermarkets.

Round Up

So there we have it. A brief look at a selection of alcohol free craft beers to get you through your dry January. I know it is difficult to find alcohol free craft beer but there is noting wrong with grabbing a cold 0.0% Peroni or San Miguel to get you through January.

I hope all reading had a fantastic Christmas and a Happy 2022 to you all!
